Cut yarn leaving a 12 in tail. Thread tail onto tapestry needle and weave in securely on the WS. Weave in the cast-on tail at the tab point. Wet-block aggressively: soak the shawl in cool water for 20 minutes, gently squeeze out water without wringing, lay flat on blocking mats, pin the top edge straight and stretch the point and the long diagonal edge to full dimensions, and pin open every eyelet row. Allow to dry completely before unpinning.

YARDAGE: This pattern is designed to use one full skein of 400–460 yards. Work the increase rows until approximately 15–20 yards remain, then work the BO row. At 20 sts per 4 in, the shawl will be approximately 54 in wide and 22 in deep after blocking at 219 sts. EYELET MATH: The eyelet row (yo, k2tog repeat) is stitch-count neutral within the body stitches; the two kfb increases still add 2 sts per eyelet row, so counts progress normally. EDGE SELVEDGE: Slipping the first stitch of every row (sl1 purlwise with yarn in front) creates a neat chain selvedge on both edges. ASYMMETRY NOTE: This shawl increases evenly on both edges, producing a symmetric isoceles triangle, not a classic asymmetric half-triangle. For a true asymmetric version, work kfb only at one edge (the start of the RS row) to produce a right-angle triangle. BLOCKING IS ESSENTIAL: Garter stitch in fingering weight compresses significantly; without aggressive blocking the eyelet rows will not open and the finished dimensions will be much smaller than stated. STOPPING POINT: Keep track of remaining yarn by winding the last 20 yards onto a separate card; when you reach it, work the BO row on the next WS row.
