Optional Fringe
FringeCut yarn into 14-inch lengths, grouping 4 strands per fringe bundle. Fold each bundle in half. Using hook, draw folded loop of bundle through a ch-1 sp or sc along the two slanted side edges of shawl. Pull loose ends through the folded loop and pull snug to secure. Attach fringe evenly spaced along both slanted edges (approximately every other ch-sp). Trim fringe ends to even 6-inch length. (Fringe complete)
Finishing
Fasten off and weave in all ends securely on the WS using a tapestry needle. Wet-block aggressively: soak shawl in cool water for 20 minutes, gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring), lay flat on blocking mats and pin out all points and the top edge to finished measurements of approximately 52 in wide × 26 in tall. Allow to dry completely before removing pins. If adding fringe, attach after blocking.
Notes
Pattern grows by 2 clusters per row (1 each side). Row 46 yields 90 clusters total. A gradient or self-striping fingering cake is ideal: start at the tip with the first color and let the gradient flow outward.
