Weave in all ends securely using a tapestry needle, burying tails at least 1 inch in two directions through the sc fabric to prevent unraveling under load. Wet-block the finished bag by soaking in cool water for 10 minutes, gently squeezing out excess water, shaping to finished dimensions, and allowing to dry flat. Cotton and linen yarns benefit greatly from blocking and will open up the mesh pattern. For extra handle durability, work a third pass of sc along each handle loop before fastening off.

Cotton or linen yarn is strongly recommended over acrylic; these natural fibers hold their shape better under the weight of produce and stretch less over time. The ch-30 handle loops measure approximately 10 in; adjust the chain count up or down by 2-stitch increments to lengthen or shorten handles. To make the bag deeper, add additional mesh rounds between Rnds 24 and 25 in increments of 2 rounds. The BLO round at Rnd 9 is essential for creating a neat wall — do not skip it. When working the mesh rounds, be sure to sl st into the chain-space (not into the sc) before beginning each round to keep the mesh aligned. The stitch count shifts from 64 individual sts to 32 ch-3 spaces in the mesh section; this is intentional and the fabric circumference remains consistent.
